I look at my profession not just a person you sells insurance, but a trained profession that takes pride in his job in taking care of each customer and their needs. How do you do that? It is by creating a personal touch with each customer. Each customer that I service I send out a personal thank you card thanking them very much for their business. I wanted to make each customer feel like they are special to me.
The other is a birthday card, I can not tell you how many times that I am out in public and current customer stops me and tell me how much they appreciate the birthday card. The little things really matter in my business.
Other things I may look for might be announcements or promotions in the paper where I send congratulations cards in the mail. It may mean alot to person to be recognized.
The personal touch does make a difference in your business and your customer's life.

Agent and the Internet-Great Combination!!!
For the past few weeks there have been new customers coming into my office with their online auto insurance quote from our company website. I always ask them how easy is it for them to use. A majority tell me that it is a very easy process to get a quote.
Getting quotes on online can be a very useful tool to get a starting point and basic information, but having an experienced agent is a must when getting the proper coverage. The online quote is close, but many times I see where the customer only quotes the lower liability limits or a high deductible which they can not pay in the time of an accident. Also they may not have the correct serial numbers of the car which could make a difference in the quote or they leave out added coverage such as rental car expense.
Again getting online may be great when it is 9pm at night and you want to get a starting point, but having the professional advice of an agent is a really valuable ask.

Personal Umbrella Liability Insurance- It May be for You!!!
Financial success is a wonderful thing for many individuals and families. Protecting that financial success is very important and that is where an umbrella policy comes into play. An umbrella policy is an excessive liability policy that goes beyond your base liability limits of your home and auto policies. For example if an insured had a very serious at-fault auto accident where the other party sued for above the policy limits the umbrella would provided the add liability protection up to 1 million or beyond. It depends how much the umbrella limit is written for.
The umbrella policy could also included additional coverage for boat policies and rentals. I always tell customers to protect their net worth. An umbrella policy does that.

If Full Coverage- Smart to Take the Rental Car Coverage!!!
I have seen so many times where an insured forgets to add on rental car coverage on their new car they have purchased. They might have had an older vechicle that was just liability and it is finally time to replace that vechicle that may need full coverage. It is very clear that buying a new car is a very big purchase. If it is full coverage you are entitled to add rental car coverage. It is coverage for you that provides a daily stipend for a rental car while your vechicles is being fixed from a wreck in the body shop.
We never realize how much we need our vechicle until an unfortunate accident takes it from you for a short period of time. Rental car coverage is there to help you through this process.
So be sure to add rental car coverage the next time you buy a new car. It is worth the peace of mind.

Renter's Insurance-Smart Thing to Do!!!
I can remember graduating college and starting my work career. At that time the total cost of my belongings would have totaled under $100. After a few years it was amazing how much that I accumulated since starting my career. That is why it is so important protecting those contents while you are renting an apartment or house.
That is where renter's insurance comes in. If you do not own a home and have home insurance, renter's insurance is there to protect your contents. I wanted to list a few items when you think of renter's insurance.

- Deductible- There is a deductible just like anything else.
- Replacement Cost-make sure you have a replacement cost endorsement on your policy
- Loss of Use-Renter's insurance covers loss of use while you are out of your apartment
- Personal Liability-You do have personal liability is case there is accident that you are liable
- Schedule items-There are theft limits on jewelry so it is important to schedule the pieces or jewelry you want covered
I hope this helps when deciding for the need protection of renter's insurance.

Never To Early Starting to Learn about Insurance
I had the pleasure to participate in a career day at a local elementary school in Wilson county area. It was not your normal career day where you get up and give a presentation to group of young men and women thinking in the back of your mind whether you are getting your point across about insurance.
It was an interactive career day where each student was given a profession with an estimated monthly income. They were to go to each professional station learning about their monthly expenses as they are getting ready to start their new life. A few of examples of stations beside insurance were real estate, groceries, automobile, and utilities.
When they go to my station they were very well educated about the monthly cost of auto, home, health, and life insurance. I also educated on how important each one is and the importance of having them in place.
In summary it is very important starting our youth out learning about insurance. I the long run it teaches responsibility and creates a better citizen. It is never to young to learn.

Community Service Makes a Difference in Your Business
I have been an agent for TN Farm Bureau Insurance in Wilson county since 2001. When I accepted the position in Lebanon, TN, I did not know one person or business in the county. The very first thing I did was to get involved. I joined a civic group, attended chamber of commerce events, completed the Leadership Wilson program, and got involved in many local nonprofits.
By getting involved, you are putting yourself in contact with other local professionals that care about the community. When you support the same cause it shows others how much you care about the community. You really get to know a person when you work together in a civic group or a charitable cause.
It may be a large time commitment it will pay off in the long with your business and your personal life.
GET INVOLVED IT WILL PAY OFF!!!!

How Much Life Insurance Do You Need?
With each new and existing customer I always ask about their current life insurance needs. Life changes and also the need for life insurance changes along with it. I really preferred the, "Needs Analysis", test when it comes to determining how much coverage and what type. When it comes to the needs analysis, it really boils down to one main question,
"If something happen to you today, what do you want to be taken care of with your life insurance program?"
When you determine those needs and what amount of coverage, you must decided whether those needs are permanent where they will always be with you or temporary where they will be here for a limited amount of time.
If a permanent need, a whole life insurance program might be the route to go since that is a permanent life insurance program if funded correctly. If temporary a term insurance program may be the one to look at since it is for limited amount of time.
Again, it is very important to sit down with a professional to determine how you need and the, "Needs Analysis" test is good place to start.

What To Do In A Homeowner's Claim Situation
With the recent castrophic storms in the Murfreesboro, TN It is really important for customers to know how to file claims. I wanted to review a few keys points about that process:
1. File the claim as soon as possible with your insurance carrier whether it would be via internet, claims phone number, or through agent's office
2. Start to make a list of key things you may need for day to day living, if you are out of house many home owner's insurance policies have what is called, "Loss Of Use", which will pay for taking care of you such as a place to stay, food, and clothing while your not able to live in your home.
3. Start to make a list of personal contents that will needed to be turned into the claims representative
I know this a very stressful time for alot of folks that are victim to such a terrible storm, but the main thing to think about that many of the things you lost can be replaced but not your life.
